The Films, Videos and Publication’s Act 1993 requires all films for public exhibition to be classified. There are a number of standard classifications which may sometimes have an additional cautionary note attached.
Berkeley Cinemas takes censorship seriously and strictly complies with and enforces all censorship laws.
All Restricted films require suitable proof of age to be produced upon request. It is recommended that a birth certificate, drivers license or photo ID which displays a date of birth is used as proof of age for restricted films.

Recommended for mature audiences. Suitable for mature persons over 16 years
of age.
Parental guidance recommended.
Younger children may require parental guidance.
R - Special restriction applies. The restriction will be described in the accompanying label.
R13 - Restricted to persons over 13 years of age. It is illegal to show the film to people below the age of 13.
R15 - Restricted to persons over 15 years of age. It is illegal to show the film to people below the age of 15.
R16 - Restricted to persons over 16 years of age.
It is illegal to show the film to people below the age of 16.
R18 - Restricted to persons over 18 years of age.
It is illegal to show the film to people below the age of 18.
Please note underage people are NOT exempt from age restrictions even if accompanied by a parent or guardian.
